Greenpeace and the new runway

I like Greenpeace's style. They've bought a plot of land bang in the middle of the proposed new runway at Heathrow. This means that as the owners of the land they will be directly involved in any legal wranglings resulting from the development. To support them you can sign up to be a joint owner of the plot. There's no financial outlay here, it just means you appear as a joint owner on the legal deed of trust. Clever stuff.
Just click on the logo at the top to add your support and become a landowner!

Inverarity Church

A dreich January day.... perfect weather for a churchyard! Turned off the main road between Dundee and Forfar and came accross this little church in Inverarity (a good Scottish place name if ever there was one). Note the chain coming down directly from the bell on the outside of the church, surely too much to resist for the local kids!

John Martyn

John Martyn died today. His vocal style always made me think he was pissed.....which he probably was, but a genius nevertheless. R.I.P.

The Surreptitious Toolbar

Now I'm well aware that this may not be an earth shattering episode for some, but I've finally figured out how to put text and photos together! Straightforward enough for most but it has to be borne in mind that I'm not the full shilling (as we say here in Forfar). Like most things in life, it's easy when you know how....... Anyway, working on that good old principle that if you fanny about with anything long enough, you'll get there...... here's another pic of Carnoustie beach from last weekend. p.s. I'm sure that toolbar wasn't there before!!

Carnoustie beach.......brrrrr

Had a strong urge to see the sea today so jumped in the car and headed down to Carnoustie. It looked bright if a touch chilly but I thought it might blow the cobwebs away. I'm not a great lover of January in general, it's a pretty crap month when nothing really happens but I have to say that so far this year my disposition has been not too bad. This in spite of the fact that as usual we start the year with a plethora of war and a global financial disaster. Never mind Barack Obama arrives at the White House on Tuesday, he'll sort the world out..........

My walk on the beach lasted half an hour, it was baltic in the extreme. Took me another half hour to thaw out in the car afterwards. It looks ok in the pics I took but as I drove home the snow came on.

New Year

Took a drive up to Glen Doll on New Years Day. Weather was fine in Forfar when I left but by the time I got up there the mist had come down quite low which made photos pretty much pointless. It was a nice drive though and good to get out on New Years Day which would otherwise have involved watching crap telly. The blog appears to be evolving into a photoblog, which is fine. I've spent a bit of time the last day or two looking at other blogs and I'll list a few of my favourites. For information, any photos or pics on here that are not identified are taken by myself.
