Forfar rooftops

I was scrolling through my pics on my pc half an hour ago looking for something to post for SF. I looked up out of the window and thought, there's my pic and went upstairs and took these from my bedroom window. The lazy man's photography.

PIANO

Softly, in the dusk, a woman is singing to me;
Taking me back down the vista of years, till I see
A child sitting under the piano, in the boom of the tingling strings
And pressing the small, poised feet of a mother who smiles as she sings.
In spite of myself, the insidious mastery of song
Betrays me back, till the heart of me weeps to belong
To the old Sunday evenings at home, with winter outside
And hymns in the cosy parlour, the tinkling piano our guide.

So now it is vain for the singer to burst into clamour
With the great black piano appassionato. The glamour
Of childish days is upon me, my manhood is cast
Down in the flood of remembrance, I weep like a child for the past.

  3. Hey, stairs were involved; it's not lazy.

I've not read that poem before. It's not actually a cheerful one is it? :-/

  4. Good point, If I'd been really lazy I'd have just pointed the camera out the downsairs window..... but I made the effort for my bloggermates.
Old DH wasn't the cheeriest of souls was he?.... Might've benefitted from a few E's and a half bottle.

  5. I'm glad you climbed the stairs, Neil, not sure how the shots from downstairs would have been, but these are suberb! Gorgeous colors!
And, no, DH wasn't the cheeriest of souls, like many of us, he could have used -- at the very least a half bottle!
    Have a great weekend!

  13. I'm afraid I skipped the poem, having to read him at uni was bad enough! But the photos are wonderful, I love that very British suburban skyline.
