Cliffs, Skies, Sea and Sammiches

The view from Auchmithie looking down from the village. A classic 'sammich' spot.

  1. Hey, there a 'durdle door' type arch out on that second point down... does it have a name, Neil?

  2. Marnie - 'Durdle door'.... where does that come from, new one on me. But I get the jist. There are a number of these rock arches along the cliffs from Arbroath to Auchmithie. The most famous one is called the 'De'ils Ee' (Devils eye). I looked to see if I could find the name of this one, but no joy so far. If I find out I'll let you know. There's a nice page here: http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/arbroath/auchmithie/index.html. Gives a better pic of the arch as it's taken from the sea.

  4. Hey! I just discovered your blog - another person from my neck of the woods ... Great to meet you.

Congrats on the 'Around The World' directory inclusion - no presure then. lol.

It's great to find an interesting blog about Angus ... I am from Dundee.

PS (If I hear about my beloved city being ridiculed, I will be vocal with my oppinions ...)

  5. Hey Sharon, nice to meet you too. As a matter of interest how did you find my blog?
As to your beloved city being ridiculed.... why would I do that? I'm a Dundonian too.
If you take the time to read my blog, you'll realise that I have a very soft spot for the city of my birth. And anyway, as a true Dundonain you'll understand that it's ok for us to ridicule our city, but let any outsiders start.....
Which part of the town are you from?

  6. Thanks for the link, Neil. I googled 'arch' and 'Auchmithie' and got some dude's blog ... he didn't know either. You Angus men are all the same.
