Bloody Midges

EDIT : As an afterthought, I thought it would be a bit heartless not to include the big yellow combine harvester. Given that it was the highlight of my day seeing this thing appear over the top of the ridge........ 'How sad was your day? '.....I hear you say. Check out the swallow (swift?) thingy.

A selection of skies over the past two days between Arbroath and Forfar. The above pic was taken north of Carnoustie just before the barley was harvested. A big yellow combine harvester was rolling up and down the field to the left of this scene.

A view over Forfar Loch this evening. The midges were out in force and my head's still itching. Wee buggers.

Looking west over the Loch...... still not seen those otters......

Seagull on lookout duty at Arbroath Harbour today.

  1. All of them are great but the field of barley is my favorite. A somewhat different landscape than I usually see in my part of the world.

  2. I like the second one of the loch best, very serene looking. How did you manage to stay still long enough to take it when you had midges eating you?!

  3. What lovely, marvelous captures, Neil! You've caught all the moods of the skies, too. And they do look peaceful. Love the gull keeping watch!

    Have a lovely weekend!

  5. I like the barley field being harvested. It is so stark and complements the sky very well.

  7. I hate midges as much as I love your photos. Over here we normally wear netting over our heads when there are bitey insects about.

  8. Beautiful skies. (The midges are not bothering me.) I love the barley fields.

  9. You have certainly got to grips with your new camera. The combine looks brand new, whoops nearly broke into song then, and your swallow thingy is great.

  10. I've never seen a yellow combine. All of ours over here are green. Thanks for posting a comment on my blog - I'll definitely put you on my sidebar. (The first male blogger to be so "honored"!) As I am sure you can tell, I'm part Scottish. My people came from Golspie (and some are still there.)
